About
About 941am
941am is an independent, vertical timeline of Apple products, from the founding on 1 April 1976 to today. It is made by dreamon.im. It is not an Apple website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc.
Why it exists
Apple’s history is usually told as a handful of keynotes. Laid out as one line, with time as the layout — today at the top, 1976 at the bottom — it reads differently: you can see how long each category took to arrive, which products were revisions, and what came either side of a launch. The site is for people who want to wander that line and for people who need one date quickly.
The name is the time on Apple’s marketing clocks, 9:41, the hour the first iPhone was announced.
Where the data comes from
Product records — names, categories, families, release and discontinuation dates, and summaries — are drawn from Wikipedia’s List of Apple products and the article linked from each product page. The September 2026 entries are written from Apple Newsroom announcements, which those pages cite.
Timeline dates are first days on sale. Where an announcement date has been checked separately, the product page shows both. Entries marked “update” are a new capacity or price of a model already on sale, not a new model.
The written guides on key pages give US launch prices from Apple’s press releases and reference sites such as EveryMac. Their inflation-adjusted figures are estimates from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics CPI-U series (CUUR0000SA0), and are labelled as estimates wherever they appear.
Photographs come mostly from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Every image’s source, author and licence is listed on the image credits page.
Licence and attribution
Text adapted from Wikipedia is used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). Summaries may be shortened or lightly edited; each product page links the Wikipedia article it was drawn from, where the full text and its authors are listed. That adapted text is available here under the same licence.
Photographs carry their own licences, listed on the image credits page. Apple, the Apple logo, and Apple product names are trademarks of Apple Inc., used here only to identify the products described.
How errors are corrected
If a date, name, price or photograph is wrong, email dev@dreamon.im with the page address and, if you can, a source — an Apple press release, a contemporary report, or the Wikipedia revision you are relying on.
Each report is checked against a primary source before anything changes. Data fixes are recorded as named corrections in the site’s source data, with the reason and the source, so they survive the next rebuild from Wikipedia rather than being overwritten by it. Recent examples: separating iPhone X’s announcement (12 September 2017) from its release (3 November 2017), and correcting when the Macintosh 128K was discontinued (1 October 1985).
